How to stop rust progression

Stopping rust has never been easier with the new Maston Rust Stop Spray. Maston Rust Stop Spray is an effective corrosion protection treatment that halts rust progression and helps protect metal surfaces from further corrosion.

The product reacts chemically with rust, forming a protective black conversion coating that stabilizes the metal surface and prepares it for further treatment.

Suitable for steel and iron surfaces before priming or painting.

Follow this quick guide for the best results.

1. Surface preparation

Remove any loose rust from the surface using a wire brush or similar tool. Thoroughly clean the surface to remove dirt, dust, grease, and other contaminants. Protect any surrounding areas that should not be treated.

Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including safety glasses and protective gloves.

2. Application

Shake the can thoroughly before use. Spray the product evenly onto the rusted surface from a distance of approximately 15–30 cm (6–12 inches). Ensure that the entire rusted area is fully covered.

The surface will quickly turn black, indicating that the chemical reaction has begun. Allow the product to react for 1–3 hours, depending on temperature and environmental conditions (at approximately +20 °C / 68 °F).

3. Finishing

Once dry, the surface may be lightly sanded if necessary. Remove all sanding dust and clean the surface with Maston Acetone.

The treated surface can then be coated with fillers, anti-corrosion primers, primers, or topcoats. Compatible with alkyd, acrylic, polyurethane (PU), and epoxy paints.

This simple treatment helps stop rust from spreading and can significantly extend the service life of the treated object.
