Maston Rust Stop Spray is an effective anti-corrosive agent that stops rust and prevents further corrosion. It reacts chemically with rust, forming a protective black conversion layer that stabilises the metal surface and prepares it for further treatment. The product is ideal for stopping corrosion on steel and iron surfaces before priming or painting.
The treated surface turns black shortly after application, indicating that the corrosion prevention process has begun. Depending on conditions, the rust-stopping reaction is completed within 1–3 hours at +20 °C. After treatment, the surface can be lightly polished and overcoated with fillers, rust protection primers, ordinary primers, or paints. Compatible with alkyd, acrylic, PU and epoxy coatings.
Always wear protective gloves and safety glasses. Use outdoors or in a well-ventilated area. Protect surrounding surfaces. Test the product first on an inconspicuous area.
How to use
1. Preparation
• Brush the surface from loose rust.
• Remove dirt, grease (with Maston Degreaser) and loose rust from the surface.
• Protect surrounding areas and surfaces.
• Wear safety glasses and gloves.
• Shake the can thoroughly before use.
2. Application
• Spray evenly onto the rusted surface from a distance of approximately 15–30 cm.
• Ensure the rusted area is fully covered.
• The surface will start turning black within moments – this indicates the reaction has begun.
• Allow the product to react for 1–3 hours depending on temperature and conditions (+20 °C).
3. Finishing
• Lightly sand or polish any uneven areas if necessary.
• Remove dust and clean the surface with Maston Acetone.
• The surface is now ready to be painted.
